Haven is a comfortable and welcoming senior home. As warm and inviting as a family home, your loved one will feel comfy lounging in a cozy recliner in the TV room, enjoying breakfast with other residents in our dining room right off the newly remodeled see-through kitchen, and bird watching from our lovely covered porch.

Haven believes that prioritizing residents’ needs over convenience is vital for their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. It takes time and compassion to sit and chat with residents to learn about their hobbies and interests and to see how they are doing each day. And it takes time and gentle patience to encourage them to care for themselves when possible, and to walk with them to dinner. But your loved one is important to us, and we will do our best to help them maintain their dignity and as much autonomy as possible. Residents’ well-being is our number one priority. The Haven Difference

Haven is a trusted and dependable senior home, offering adult foster care services to Greater Lansing Area seniors and their families. More affordable than most nursing homes, Haven helps residents thrive and improve their quality of life by providing skilled and compassionate elder-care. 


Haven is a small home, and our direct-care-staff-to-resident ratio is 1:6. That means we have one direct care-giver on staff for every six residents, which is twice as high as the national average. We have more caregivers on shift than other similar homes, and with more caregivers, we have time to actively work with residents, one-on-one, to ensure they maintain the highest level of functioning possible. 


Other “facilities” will address your loved one’s physical needs, but Haven’s philosophy of care and service goes a step further. We are committed to providing the one-to-one attention, interaction, and services residents deserve to help them live their best life possible. 


Our care team’s dedication to providing the highest level of care and service means residents are happy and enjoy a higher quality of life. When your loved one is no longer able to stay home safely, you can trust our experienced, compassionate, vigilant care team to provide excellent care you can trust--24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We take great pride in partnering with your loved one to tend to their needs. 

It might be faster and more convenient to use wheelchairs to push residents from their bedrooms to the dining room. But we’re not interested in convenience — we’re interested in residents’ physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. And we make decisions based on what is best for residents. That means we walk with them so they can maintain self-confidence and dignity and practice important skills like walking and social engagement. And we take time to encourage residents to help with dressing and bathing when possible so they can maintain a sense of autonomy. 


Our house feels like a home, not an institution, and that’s vital for residents’ emotional health.

Residents stay active participating in activities and programs that engage their minds and bodies and promote interaction and community with other residents. We also attend to residents’ spiritual life through weekly Bible studies and other activities including hymn sing-alongs and pastoral visits. 


We know communication is important. Our approachable staff is available to discuss your loved ones needs or your concerns. And, just like at home, you can easily get in touch with your loved one. If you’d like to talk to your loved one, just give us a call, and we’ll get them on the line. We love seeing their faces light up when families call to chat. We are also happy to facilitate Facetime visits for out-of-town family and for local family members who can’t make it in as often as they would like. 


We love hosting in-person visits with residents’ families. A quiet chat on the front porch might be nice. Or maybe you’d like to bring along the whole family to enjoy time with your loved one.  Or perhaps you’d like to join us for a craft activity, a performance, or a holiday event. Or maybe you might enjoy a group visit with your loved one and their new resident friends. Haven welcomes families, and it’s up to you how you’d like to spend time with your loved one. 


Haven’s monthly newsletter, Haven Happenings, is available to your whole family, upon request. It features residents’ photos, updates from the director, information about past and upcoming Haven events, and interesting articles.
